Madison-based Out of the Box Publishing has quietly turned into one of the fastest-growing board game companies in the nation. [The company's first game, Apples to Apples] was chosen Party Game of the Year by Games magazine in 1999.
Out of the Box now offers close to 30 board and card games, [including Squint, Whad'ya Know, Blink, My Word, and a Junior version of Apples to Apples]. The [Out of the Box] company's philosophy is that games should be fun and easy to play, hence the name. "Games provide delightful diversions to our lives but, most importantly, games bring us together -- for real entertainment with real people," [owner Mark Osterhaus] said.
